When Hurricane Charley struck Central Florida, Showalter Aviation faced a devastating setback. The storm destroyed approximately $2 million worth of aircraft hangars that had long served as a reliable profit center for the family-owned FBO. Because the hangars were fully paid for, Showalter had been able to offer highly affordable leasing rates to customers while maintaining steady revenue. Rebuilding with traditional permanent structures would require a significant capital investment, forcing the company to substantially increase rental rates, potentially tripling costs for existing customers. This created the challenge of restoring their aircraft shelters without burdening customers with dramatically higher rental rates.
